P.5 Assembly Performance at Glaitness School. Great work everyone. This is inclusive music making in action with the Skoog sitting comfortably with acoustic instruments in a group performance.
In this clip we see Martyna (far right wearing glasses) playing Skoog. She has cerebral palsy and is unable to physically play more traditional acoustic instruments. She is an able and musical child. She has the Skoog set with a specific set of notes to play the bass guitar part for the class ensembles whistle group (a performance at a school assembly). The teacher has assigned specific notes to each surface and Martyna must find and play the right notes at the right time in the right way to play her part in the musical performance, the same as the other performers. She has music she is reading - in this instance traditional score with coloured dots marked by the teacher to indicate which note is on which surface of the Skoog.
She is playing her part with skill and is making music with her peers, on a level playing field with everyone else. Inclusive music making in action!
